Who would have thought, our dear blog would be invaded by fake and not-so-humble poets! Yes, poets who dare to claim some methodical stanza or verse of feelings to cause hearts and minds to softly tremble in awe of its meaning.
But lets be clear Raza! Some of you don't realize the true value of poetry, because if you did, you'd realize, it would be the elixir of rational thinking that is needed in this world.
You see, poetry is a special kind of literature that conjures up an imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm. Yeah, poetry is a song without music!
Poetry is so important because it helps us understand and appreciate the world around us. Poetry's strength lies in its ability to shed a “sideways” light on the world, so the truth sneaks up on you.
Poetry teaches us how to live.
It demonstrates human truth through metaphor, imagery, symbolism and story — rather than addressing topics directly with our usual tribal viewpoint on subjects of mundane value to real life. Que, que? Read the last sentence again pendejo!
We won't bore you with names of famous poets or even Raza poets past and present. Because that would require valid research and critical thinking - two things we have little use of in today's world. Ok, the truth is, it feels like work and we just don't want to make time and energy to pursue it for a pinche blog post!
Instead, PuroChisme will post this famous poetry written by Tlaloco's carnal during one of his spiritual hangovers, uh, we mean, awakenings:
Pages from the Past
In my minds eye, I can see all that I know,
Wisdom of Stupidity, acting for the show,
Pretending not to notice, as I created such a fuss,
What a fool I was, before I learned to trust,
This is no reveal, of another hidden gem,
More like an admission, before I go again,
Time is a precious thing, that we lose before we know,
Too many minutes gone, as we pause for all we sow,
But I’ve a mind to turn around and look at where I’m at,
The present tense is comforting when you base it all on facts,
I have no clues to where we’ll be, but I am certain on just one thing,
The unknown future is not ours to give, but only to receive.
I’d like to say, screw it all, and swing at imagined enemies,
But that would make me just like them, for all the world to see,
Happiness begins inside, so why do we resist,
Holding on to an ugly past, with hatred in our fists,
Love of self, is the only thing that breaks torment to cope,
Love shared, nurture us, with dignity and hope,
So now I know, what I will do, to make our world alright,
Share a smile and give awhile, always moving in the light,
RicoS
